Opposition stands firm on Mandviwalla’s privilege motion against NAB chief

The opposition parties have reiterated their resolve to stand firm on Senate Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandviwalla’s privilege motion against National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Javed Iqbal, it is learnt reliably.

Sources said the opposition parties that joined hands against the government will hold a special sitting to mull over the matter of accountability at the Committee Room No 1 of the Upper House of the Parliament on December 30.

However, the sources said the opposition parties refused to budge over NAB chief summoning after the Senate deputy chairman moved the motion.

Mandviwalla accused the anti-corruption watchdog of committing serious human rights violations and extorting money from people through blackmailing.

Reports cited the Senate deputy chairman as saying that if the NAB chairman doesn’t appear before the committee, warrants for his arrest will be issued,”

The Senate deputy chairman said that he had apprised the NAB chairman as to how various NAB officials were picking up the people and forcing them to have a plea bargain deal.
