A citizen has raised an objection to the nomination papers filed by former foreign minister and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari from NA-127, Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
In his application submitted to the returning officer (RO) of the constituency, Muhammad Ayyaz has said that Bilawal, in his nomination papers, has shown his association with the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian (PPPP). “The truth of the matter is that there is a difference between the PPPP and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). The two are separate parties,” read the application.
The citizen has further stated that while the electoral symbol of the PPP is ‘sword’, that of the PPPP is ‘arrow’. “Bilawal is the PPP chairman while former president Asif Ali Zardari is the PPPP president,” reads the application.
Ayyaz has further said that as per the Election Act, 2017, a person cannot be a member of two parties at the same time. “This constitutes violation of the Election Act,” the applicant has said.
It may be mentioned here that nomination papers of Bilawal Bhutto were approved from NA-194 and NA-196 in Larkana on Tuesday. Nobody raised any objection to Bilawal’s nomination papers. Bilawal’s Political Secretary Jameel Ahmad Soomro appeared before the RO for scrutiny of the nomination papers.
