Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed on Sunday claimed that there was a deadlock as far as the opposition parties’ plan to table a no-trust motion against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government in the National Assembly (NA) was concerned, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to the media in Islamabad, he said the reason for that was that these parties were quarrelling with each other over who will benefit the most from the no-confidence motion.
On the other hand, he emphasized, PTI had trust in its coalition partners.
He further said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari did not have the ability to force Prime Minister Imran Khan to resign.
Assuring Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an opposition parties’ alliance, foolproof security on their arrival in Islamabad on March 23, 2022, the interior minister, however, said he was pretty sure that the opposition would not come to the federal capital on the aforementioned date.
Rasheed reminded that these were not the times when turncoats or deserters could be kept at Changa Manga or Murree. “I wonder where these opposition parties will keep those members of the parliament (MPs) whose loyalties they will purchase in lieu of money,” he said.
He cautioned that the prime minister would launch a counter-attack at an opportune time.
He disclosed that Pakistan was again in talks with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The minister said it was after 24 years that the Australian cricket team was touring Pakistan. “And in order to ensure their protection, we are offering them security of a state-level,” he added.
