Slovakia's three-time cycling world champion Peter Sagan said on Friday he will quit road racing at the end of the season to focus on mountain biking at the Paris Olympics.
"This is my last year on the road as a professional," Sagan said at a press conference on Friday in Argentina where the 33-year-old is competing in the Tour of San Juan.
As well as his world titles between 2015-2017, Sagan has a dozen stages on the Tour de France to his name and wins in the Tour de Flandres and Paris-Roubaix.
He said he would remain with his Total Energies team next year for the 2024 Games in Paris where he will bring down the curtain on a 14-year career.
