At least four people died and another was injured in separate incidents of electrocution and road mishaps as heavy rain lashed different areas of the metropolis on Sunday.
The monsoon rain followed by gusty winds uprooted power pylons and disrupted power supply to many areas across Karachi.
Three people, including 10-year-old Arbab and 22-year-old youth, died from electric shocks while a teenager was injured in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Landhi and Garden Fawara Chowk. One of the victims was identified as 50 years old Yousuf. Another motorcyclist died after his bike fell into a flooded drain due to a slippery road in Orangi Town’s Sector 11 ½.
Twitter users posted videos of flooding in Karachi after the rain. In these videos, many vehicles can be seen floating in the flooded streets of the Sindh capital.
Despite a large-scale destruction caused by the heavy rain, the Sindh government, the local government of Karachi or rescue agencies of these government are not seen anywhere in the city.
Electricity Supply To Most Parts Of Karachi Suspended
More than 586 feeders tripped in Karachi after a heavy downpour, causing a large-scale power breakdown in many parts of the Sindh capital on Sunday.
The areas facing loadshedding include Surjani Town, Baldia Town, Lyari Town, Korangi, Malir Model Colony, Liaquatabad, New Karachi, Nusrat Bhutto Colony, Kathore Gadap, Nazimabad, SITE, Shah Faisal Colony, Saudabad, Defence, PECHS, Manzoor Colony, Akhtar Colony, Qayyumabad, Kashmir Colony, Frontier Colony, FB Area, Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Baloch Colony, Lines Area, Old City Area, Gurumandir, Martin Quarters and Jamshed Road.

According to the K-Electric spokesperson, work is under way in the entire city to restore power supply, but power to some areas would not be restored until complete drainage of rainwater.
