The downward trend continues in the graph of coronavirus cases in Pakistan as the country recorded 1176 new cases Monday in the last 24 hours (Sunday), the latest data from the National Command and Control (NCOC) shows.
The most important and good news for Pakistan was that the most populous province of the country Punjab reported no new death from coronavirus in the past 24 hours while it was the fourth consecutive day that Balochistan has not reported any death.
The country also recorded only 20 fatalities over the last 24 hours, its lowest since last three months. This took the total death tally to 5842.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza also tweeted the fact and said Pakistan had the lowest number of death tolls in 24 hours sins it reached at its peak of 153 deaths on June 20 that shows an 83% in COVID-19 related deaths.
Punjab has recorded 172 new coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours, according to the government's Covid-19 portal, taking the provincial tally to 92,073 with 8697 active cases. The good news was that the province did not record any virus death as death toll remained at 2,116. With 10 new recoveries, 81,260 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.
The total coronavirus cases now stand at 274, 289 with 3592 more people recovered from the coronavirus during the last 24 hours. This has taken the total number of recovered people to 241,026. According to the portal, the number of critical patients stands at 1,229. There are only 27,421 active cases in the country.
Sindh has recorded 713 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the provincial tally to 118,311 with 8757 active cases. The province also recorded 16 additional fatalities, taking the death toll to 2,151. With 3384 new recoveries, 107,403 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recorded 177 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 33,397 with 5100 active cases. The province also reported two new deaths, taking the death toll to 1,178. With 102 new recoveries, 27,119 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.
Balochistan has recorded 23 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 11, 601 with 1489 active cases. It was the fourth consecutive day that the province has not reported any death, as death toll remains at 136. With 75 new recoveries, 9976 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.
Islamabad has recorded 43 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 14,884 with 2,467 active cases. The capital also reported one new death, taking the death toll to 164. With no new recovery, the number of recovered patients remains at 12,253 in the federal capital so far.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 11 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 2034 with 536 active cases. With no new death reported for the third consecutive day, the death toll remains at 49. AJK also reported 14 new recoveries, as 1449 patients have recovered so far from the virus.
Gilgit Baltistan has recorded 37 new cases during the last 24 hours, it highest in a week, taking the tally to 1989 with 375 active cases. With one new death reported, the death toll reaches at 48. With seven new recoveries, 1566 patients have recovered from the virus so far.
The number of tests administered across the country has now increased to 1,890,937 as 22,056 new tests were conducted on Sunday.
