The National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad has once again detected the presence of poliovirus in the environmental samples of Peshawar, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The NIH said on Wednesday that it was for the fourth time in a year that the presence of virus had been confirmed in Narre Khar area of the city while for the fifth time in the entire city.
The NIH further said that the virus had genetic resemblance with the one found in Afghanistan.
The federal government officials have said it has been confirmed that the virus has travelled from Afghanistan to Pakistan six times this year.
However, they add, only one child has been affected by the disease so far in the ongoing year.
