A police official in Sindh was honey-trapped before being abducted by dacoits of the katcha area, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Shabbir Markhand, a resident of Dadu, and posted as a head moharar at a police station in Jamshoro, received a phone call from a girl who called him to her place on the pretext of befriending him.
But instead of meeting his friend, the head moharar was taken away by dacoits, who demanded Rs10 million from his family in ransom.
Assistant sub-inspector Ali Nawaz, the captive’s brother, while confirming the news of his brother’s abduction, said that Shabbir had gone missing 17 days ago. “On March 23, his son received a phone call from him in which he told him that the dacoits had demanded Rs10 million in ransom for his release,” Nawaz said.
On the other hand, spokesman for the Jamshoro police said that Nawaz had informed the Force of his brother’s abduction. “He has also said that it has been traced that the dacoits are making phone calls from Panu Aqil; a city in northern Sindh,” the spokesman said, and added that Dadu Police, too, was in touch with the captive’s family members.
