A gruesome incident unfolded in the Sohbatpur district of Balochistan, where seven members of the same family were brutally shot dead over a land dispute.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, among the victims were a husband, wife, their four sons, and a daughter, aged between one and fifteen years.
Police sources said armed men stormed the shepherd family's residence in the RD-238 police precinct, opening indiscriminate fire.
The attack left the head of the household, who worked as a shepherd, dead along with his wife and children.
Following the mass killing, the assailants set the family’s hut ablaze before fleeing the scene.
Police sources said the deadly assault stemmed from a long-standing land dispute involving the victims. The police have launched an investigation into the matter and are searching for the culprits behind the brutal killings.
Sohbatpur, a district in Balochistan formed in 2013 with a population of over 240,000, has a predominantly rural and agrarian society.
It shares borders with the districts of Jafarabad, Naseerabad, Dera Bugti, Jacobabad, and Kashmore.
With a literacy rate of 41.02% and a sex ratio of 103.06 males per 100 females, the district has a significant number of underage residents, with 42.99% of the population below ten years of age.
