In an effort to modernize its automotive sector, Pakistan is preparing to introduce ethanol fuel engines, ensuring that local vehicles are compatible with this technology while promoting the use of domestically produced auto parts.
This initiative was discussed in a meeting between Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) for Industries and Production, and Hiroshi Kawamura, CEO of Pak Suzuki.
Haroon Akhtar Khan reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to bio-gas and electric vehicle projects, highlighting the potential for industrial collaboration between Pakistan and Japan, particularly in the green energy sector.
A press release noted that Pak Suzuki’s plan to set up a biogas plant in Manga Mandi, Lahore, was lauded for its support of Pakistan’s renewable energy goals. Khan emphasized Pakistan’s importance as a key market for Pak Suzuki and underscored the need for continued partnerships within the automotive industry.
Hiroshi Kawamura congratulated Khan on his new role and expressed confidence in expanding economic and technological cooperation between the two countries.
These discussions are in line with the government’s "Uraan" vision for eco-friendly vehicles, marking another milestone in Pakistan-Japan industrial collaboration.
