Former Senate chairman and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Syed Nayyer Bukhari said on Thursday that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), and not PPP, were responsible for split in the opposition parties’ alliance, Pakistan Democratic Movement.

In an interview with 24News TV channel, the former Senate chairman said those who issued show-cause notices to the PPP and Awami National Party (ANP) were to blame for the parting of the ways.

He was of the view that both PML-N and JUI-F had failed to understand opposition parties’ brand of politics. “We welcome all those who will assist us in sending the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government home,” Bukhari said, and added, “This is my question to both PML-N and JUI-F as what had they done after March 16 that could have created problems for the present government?”

The PPP leader reminded that since there were cracks within the PTI and its allied parties were not comfortable with it either, therefore, the opposition had an opportunity to show the party’s government in Punjab the door and bring its own chief minister. “Another way of sending the government home is that the opposition does not approve the budget,” he counselled.
