Federal Human Rights Minister Shirin Mazari flew into a rage after the US Embassy in a tweet condemned an attack on an Islamabad-based journalist, Asad Ali Toor, by unknown assailants, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Human Rights Minister Mizari tweeted on Thursday that the US should also condemn the Indian government’s attacks on journalists in Indian-occupied Kashmir and demanded action against the perpetrators. If this statement is to have credibility then we need to see its applicability worldwide by the US government, she said in her tweet.

Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry in his tweet on Wednesday condemned the assault on journalist Asad Ali Toor and said that the SSP Islamabad had been directed to probe the attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Upon Fawad’s tweet, the US Embassy also tweeted on Wednesday saying that attacks against journalists can never be tolerated. We urge accountability for all crimes against journalists and advocate for the safety of media workers worldwide, the embassy said.

Shirin Mazari didn’t like the US Embassy tweet and retorted that she was absolutely agreed. She said her government had taken serious note of the attack on journalists in Pakistan and police had been asked to investigate thoroughly (and) register FIRs and take action. We have laid a strong Journalist and Media Professional Protection Bill in (the) parliament, she tweeted.

In another thread, Ms Mazari took on the US and tweeted “We also expect (the) US government will act and condemn apartheid Israeli state's bombing of a media building in Occupied Palestine and also demand punishment for those responsible for this attack on entire journalist community plus those responsible for attacking individual journalists”.
