In an interview with Lallantop, Janhvi Kapoor opened up about her understanding on the popular culture of paparazzi, which celebrities encounter every day in their lives.
The actress explained how every celebrity in the film industry has a specific rate card, according to which their pictures are clicked and sold on the internet. She went on further to categorise the paparazzi as being equivalent to a ration card for the celebs. In her words:
“Har celebrity ka ek ration card jaise hota hai. Inki picture itne mein bikti hai. Agar aapka price ho, toh pohnch jaate hain, gaadi follow kar lete hai. Agar price itna high nahi hai, toh bulaya jaata hai kai baar.”
Moving further in the interaction, Janhvi shared that the higher the price of the celebrity is according to the paparazzi, the more they will follow them. However, if this price falls, the celebrities at times, end up having to call the paparazzi themselves for publicity. Speaking about herself, Janhvi added how she only calls the paparazzi during her film promotions. But, during the moments when she wants to stay low-key, she doesn’t do that, since it will end up reflecting a false image of herself. Concluding how every celebrity has a particular price attached to their pictures, Janhvi said: “Lekin jab film ki promotion nahi ho rahi hai, jab shoot mein nahi jaari hoon, jab gayab hona chahti hoon, tab woh, agar woh extra effort loge, toh woh aap nahi dekhoge. Aisa kahi baar hua hai ki ya toh woh aapke gaadi ko follow karte hai, kyunki har picture ka, har image ka unhe paisa milta hai.”
Earlier, during another promotional event for her upcoming film, Mr & Mrs Mahi, a clip of Janhvi Kapoor went viral on the internet, wherein she was seen interacting with a few of her fans. However, as soon as a few media personnel zoomed in towards her to click her pictures, the diva immediately warned them to not click her pictures from any wrong angle.
