In a historic movement, the Balochistan government has taken a significant step towards gender inclusivity by allowing women to assume the role of Naib Tehsildar in the province, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a recent notification, the Balochistan Public Service Commission has announced 114 posts of Naib Tehsildar, in which five percent of the posts of Naib Tehsildar have been reserved for women.
In the past, women were not recruited against the posts of Tehsildar or Naib Tehsildar in Balochistan province.
This shift in policy comes as a response to a plea filed by a female lawyer, prompting the High Court to direct the government to establish a dedicated quota for women in both the Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar positions.
The court's directive has paved the way for increased representation and opportunities for women in the administrative sector.
According to experts, as Balochistan opens its doors to women in the role of Tehsildar, this historic decision is poised to bring about positive social change and empowerment for women in the region.
