Multan Bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday summoned the secretary schools education tomorrow on November 28 to explain why jobs had been denied to the heirs of those employees who had either retired or died prior to the repeal of the law under which they were to be employed, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During the hearing of the petition filed by Ijaz Hussain, the son of a school night watchman, against not giving him a job following the retirement of his father on July 11, Justice Asim Hafeez said that section 17-A of the Punjab Civil Servants (Appointment and Conditions of Service Rules 1974) was repealed on July 26, 15 days after the plaintiff’s father’s retirement. “Why the children and wives of the employees who had either died or retired before the abrogation of the law are not being given jobs?” he questioned.
The petitioner had prayed to the court to order the school management to give him a job under the section which was later revoked.
