Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday clarified that he never went for confrontation and clash with any state organ.
This he said while talking to a group of senior journalists. The former Punjab CM said he saved Rs1billion public money during his terms as provincial chief and his family suffered loss.
Former premier Nawaz Sharif’s speech was not against the law and constitution, he said adding that the ‘selected’ government wanted the opposition to be in clash with state organs to cover up its poor performance.
The ‘NAB-Niazi alliance’ has been exposed. He stressed the politics of confrontation would be damaging. He said he believed the country can only move forward with consultation and reconciliation. He reiterated that his politics is one of reconciliation, adding however that the decisions made during the multi-party conference still stand.
The PML-N leader said that both his party and the PPP are ready to resign from the assemblies should the time come for such a move to be necessary. He also said that no new elections must take place until the demand for "no interference" in the exercise is fulfilled.
