Roger Federer backs young tennis players

Roger Federer has emphasized the importance of helping, coaching, and mentoring young tennis players so they can combat the challenges they are facing from the press and social media.

Talking to a British magazine, Roger discussed the breathing problems that forced young tennis player Emma Raducanu to pullout out from the fourth round of “Wimbledon”. He also talked about mental issues and the impact of media pressures due to which Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka withdrew from the “French Open”. 

He bashed the social media platforms and said that “He has no idea how he would have handled the social media if it existed at the beginning of his tennis career.”

In support of young athletes, the Swish tennis legend urged on the role of seasoned players like him to take an initiative in order to put the young tennis players out of the tense atmosphere. He added that “For every ten nice comments there’s always one negative comment and people focus more on one negative comment rather to give importance to ten positive comments.”

Moreover, Rogers admired that tennis players are athletes and professionals, but at the same time, they are human beings too. He believed in evolution in the relationship between athletes and media.
