The Intelligence Bureau has decided to withdraw its review petition against the Faizabad sit-in judgement from the Supreme Court, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

IB Deputy Director Asad Ullah Khan submitted a miscellaneous petition to the court on Tuesday.

In its petition, the IB requested the Supreme Court that it wants to withdraw its review petition against the Faizabad sit-in verdict, pleading with it to accept its miscellaneous application and allow it to take back its review petition.

On the other hand, Sheikh Rashid’s counsel filed an application in the Supreme Court seeking adjournment of hearing of his petition against the Faizabad sit-in judgement.

He petitioned that Sh Rashid was in custody and he was unable to make any contact with him.

The lawyer further stated that since Sh Rashid’s advocate had now become provincial law minister, he could not be presented before the court in the case.

The counsel requested the court to adjourn the hearing of the case.

The petition was filed by Advocate on Record Mehr Khan Malik.

The Supreme Court has fixed September 28 for the hearing of a set of review petitions against its verdict on the 2017 sit-in by the Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) at Faizabad in Islamabad.

A three-judge bench led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and comprising Justice Aminud Din Khan and Justice Athar Minallah will take up review petitions on Thursday.

The pleas were moved by the Ministry of Defence, Intelligence Bureau, PTI, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Pemra.

The judgement, authored by Justice Isa, had ordered the defence ministry and services chiefs to punish personnel under their command who were found to have violated their oath.
