Former minister Fawad Chaudhry is expected to rejoin Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as the party founder Imran Khan has granted permission for his return, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to the channel, well-placed sources in the PTI confirmed that former premier Imran Khan granted permission for Fawad Chaudhry's return to the party.
The PTI sources also said a meeting between former chairman of the party Imran Khan and his former cabinet member Fawad Chaudhry is also expected next week in the Adiala Jail.
The sources claimed there's also speculation about Fawad Chaudhry being assigned significant responsibilities within the party.
PTI leaders resistance:
On the other hand, dozens of PTI leaders and elected parliamentarians strongly opposed Fawad Chaudhry's return to the party and said those who left PTI would not be allowed to come back under any circumstances as they have been proved disloyal to Imran Khan in hard times.
They said that Fawad Chaudhry's return would be an abuse for PTI workers who have endured prison hardships. They also said that they would register protests inside and outside the party on the return of Fawad Chaudhry to PTI.
