Tough competition is expected between the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) as voting in the election for the seat of mayor of tehsil Balambat, Lower Dir is underway, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The voting started at 8:00 in the morning and will last until 5:00 in the evening.
Today’s election was necessitated after the mayor, belonging to the PTI, was declared disqualified on account of his alleged involvement in May-9 related incidents of violence.
It is worth-mentioning here that the PML-N, the PPP and the ANP are supporting the JI’s candidate as these parties have withdrawn the candidatures of their candidates.
