Two civil servants in Lodhran District, the deputy commissioner (DC) and the district police officer (DPO), have locked horns over control of 62.5 acres of government land in their jurisdiction.
Flt-Lt (Retd) Imran Qureshi is currently serving as deputy commissioner of Lodhran and Syed Karar Hussain, a PSP officer, as DPO.
In the latest move, the Lodhran district police officer has taken control of the government land allegedly by force and given it on lease. As the assistant commissioner for Kahror Pakka reached there to have the land vacated, the local deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and the station house officer (SHO) stopped him from doing so. To boost his force on ground, the DPO sent Elite Force personnel to DSP and SHO’s help.
According to the Lodhran DC, the disputed land belongs to the provincial government and the police have no documents to show ownership of the land.
On the other hand, the senior member of the Board of Revenue has written a letter to the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) to register a case against the police officers. However, ACE officials have refused to register a case against the police officers.
According to Lodhran Police, the disputed land belongs to police martyrs and the force will not vacate it.
Now, the senior member of the Board of Revenue has written a letter to the Punjab chief secretary, seeking action against the police officers allegedly involved in land grabbing.
