In order to facilitate over 65,000 special people across the province, Social Welfare Department of Punjab government has signed an memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bank of Punjab for the issuance of Himmat Cards (ATM Cards).
Punjab government has decided to provide quarterly financial assistance of Rs 10,500 to deserving special people. Chief Minister has directed the authorities concerned to start payment to the needy through Himat cards by September 15.
The MoU was signed by Secretary Social Welfare Javed Akhtar Mahmood and President Bank of Punjab Zafar Masood. Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Sohail Shaukat Butt, MPA Sania Ashiq, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Chairman P&D Nabil Awan, DG Social Welfare Amna Munir and other officers were present on the occasion.
Talking to the participants of the ceremony, CM Maryam Nawaz said that taking care care of deserving special persons is responsibility of the state.
CM Maryam Nawaz said in first phase Himmat Cards will be issued to 40,000 people while 25,000 people will benefit during second phase.
Moreover, 30 percent of quota has been reserved for special women. A dedicated helpline 1312 has been set up for the assistance of deserving special persons.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif took notice of an incident of kite flying in Zafarwal, and sought an immediate report from IG Police in the matter. She directed the authorities concerned to provide best medical treatment facilities to the injured in the incident.
Earlier, Maryam Nawaz expressed grief over the loss of precious human lives in another pilgrims’ bus accident in Iran. She offered condolences and expressed her heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families.
