Govt in action to counter opposition's smear campaign

The government has decided to counter the opposition’s smear campaign against state organs.

The decision was made at a meeting of government spokespersons with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair on Tuesday. 

The meeting took stock of the current political situation and government strategy to thwart the opposition bids to defame the armed forces and the government.

‘Hussain Haqqani Network’ is behind the ‘disinformation’ drive to malign the state institutions, including the army, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi told the participants.

Since the PDM failed to mount pressure on the PM to step down, they took to the social media to inflict damage upon the national institutions, the minister said.

Taking a swipe at the joint opposition’s leadership, he said in an organised way, two junior politicians are being fielded ‘against’ the senior politicians.

Criticism of the state organ is too part of the 5G war, he said and stressed the need for exposing such elements at all the forums.

Rifts within in Fazlur Rehman's Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam also came under discussion.

Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid raised a question as to who would stand by Fazl when he (the latter) could not keep its party united.

The opposition has used all of its cards to get NRO but its too late, the minister. PM aide Babar Awan briefed the meeting about the government’s plan in connection with the Senate session.

The meeting also decided to keep an eye on Senate session as the forum may be used to malign the state organs. 

The government would let such elements to be successful, the premier said adding that the PTI will complete its term. The PM foresaw economic growth and listed the feats to bring in betterment.

Meeting on energy sector 

Prime Minister Imran Khan presided over a meeting on the energy sector. The meeting was briefed about the ongoing projects to conserve energy and steps to improve the electricity supply system. Imran Khan gave directives to provide the power consumers with maximum relief. The meeting was told about the foreign investors were showing interest in Pakistan.
