Out of 80 voters, 69 voters use the right to cast a vote, the TV channel reported.

The election for mayor of the federal capital was held on Monday under the auspices of Election Commission of Pakistan ECP. The polling continued from 9am to 5pm.

The contest for the Mayor slot was among three candidates including Peer Adil Shah from PML-N, PTI's Malik Sajid Mehmood, and Syed Zaheer Shah an independent candidate.

The electoral college for the election of Mayor Islamabad comprised 80 votes, for which 50 Union Council chairpersons, and three deputy mayors were the voters.

The TV channel reported 17 officials on special seats were also a part of the voters' list for the mayor's election.

It is pertinent to note that the mayor's seat fell vacant following the resignation of Shaikh Ansar, who belongs to PML-N.
