While coming down hard on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Kashmir Affairs Qamar Zaman Kaira said Wednesday that one politician was provoking the army every day to interfere in politics, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During an address to the high court bar in Sukkur, Kaira said that it was an honour for him to address at a place where a leader like Bhutto had also delivered his speech.

He added that leadership had an important role in the development of the country, adding that the lawyers had an important role in the restoration of democracy.

“Do elections and legislation lead to democracy? Building institutions does not lead to democracy. During the Dark Ages in Europe, there had been a long militant as well as intellectual struggle. Today, the entire world wishes to become like the western world,” he pointed out.

“We do not look at our voting patterns. We are mostly stuck in our lingual and tribal conflicts,” he added.

“Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave encouragement to a broken-hearted nation. There is no such country in the world where there is a feudal system or lingual group,” he maintained.

“The lawyer community is the highest class of the society. But the tribal affiliations emerge in the bar elections. The same is true of the political parties. We talk about democracy, but we do not see inside our party,” he added.

“To change the country, we need to change ourselves collectively. What can be done for a society where turning away from promise and the U-turns become the biggest weapons?” he remarked.

“Pakistan is passing through a very difficult period. We know that people are angry with us. We had to take tough decisions due to the agreements of the previous government with the International Monetary Fund (IMF),” he said.

“It is being said that Pakistan will default. We are confident that the country will not default. Friendly countries are with us. Our relations with the United States (US) are not good, but we will not bow down before the US,” he stated.

He also lambasted former premier Imran Khan and said that he had damaged Pakistan’s relations with Saudi Arabia.

“Today, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is improving relations with the world by becoming the foreign minister,” he asserted.

“Even today, we are saying that Imran Khan should come and talk to us,” he added and also expressed his concerns over the new wave of terrorism in the country.
