Former defence minister Khawaja Asif served a defamation notice on Usman Dar and his mother over allegations through a video message on social media.
In the video message, Usman Dar’s mother alleged that police raided her house at the behest of Khawaja Asif and the raiding party manhandled her.
Khawaja Asif served Rs1 billion damages notice through lawyer Muhammad Ibrahim.
According to the Dar family sources, the notice has not been received so far while Usman Dar says he welcomes the move.
The former PTI member added: “We have video evidence. We want to have a forum where we can raise our concerns too.
“The DPO and the district administration will have to tell the truth in the court as to whose order the atrocities were committed.
He questioned: “Who made the lawmen act as outlaws? Who wanted to ransack our home?”
Dar is among the figures who parted ways with the PTI after May 9 the day when party activists took to the streets to vent their spleen over ex-PM Imran Khan’s arrest in a corruption case.
PTI mob damaged public property, state assets and sensitive installations. They stormed GHQ in Rawalpindi, Jinnah House in Lahore and Radio Pakistan in Peshawar. The riots left a trail of destruction.
