A local Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader, his son and a student were shot dead in Islamabad with the police have yet to register an FIR of the incident and triggering a protest sit-in outside a hospital, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
Unidentified assailants killed Mufti Ikram, brother of senior JUI leader Qari Karamat-ur-Rehman, his 13-year-old son and a pupil in the Bhara Kahu area of Islamabad late Saturday night.
The JUI has called for a protest and sit-in at Uthaal Chowk in Islamabad. Brother Qari Karamat said the murders were evidence of the government’s incompetence. He said the sit-in will continue till the arrest of the killers.
JUI Central Secretary General Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri telephoned Qari Karamat-ur-Rehman and condemned the killings.
“The incident is proof of poor performance of the government and administration,” Qari Karamat said and said that the FIR has not yet been registered yet.
He said if a highway going to Prime Minister's Bani Gala residence was not safe then what would happen to rest of the country.
The TV channel reported that the bodies of the three persons killed in Islamabad were shifted to the Polyclinic Hospital.
A large number of JUI workers have gathered outside the hospital. While a large contingent of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police was deployed there to avoid any untoward incident.
The JUI-F workers said funeral prayers will not be offered until the arrest of the killers as the incident took place outside Imran Khan's house and Prime Minister Imran Khan is responsible for the incident.
Meanwhile, a consultative meeting of scholars from Rawalpindi and Islamabad was held outside the Polyclinic Hospital and deliberations on the future strategy after the incident.
