A live mortar shell weighing 5 kg, allegedly made in India, was found in Sahwal village of Narowal district on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The local police cordoned off the area and alerted the bomb disposal squad, who reached the spot and defused the shell safely.
The shell was taken into custody for further investigation.
The bomb disposal squad said that if the mortar shell had exploded, it could have caused great destruction in the vicinity. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
