State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Jameel Ahmed on Tuesday said that the central bank has issued digital banking licence to Easypaisa Digital Bank Limited, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a gathering in Karachi, Jameel Ahmed said that the State Bank of Pakistan is working on a plan to introduce branchless banking across Pakistan.
He said that digital banking highlighted our commitment to digital ecosystem. He said that after expansion of digital banking our financial system will become more strengthened.
Jameel Ahmed said that digital banking will put positive impact on lives of people living in the rural areas of Pakistan.
He said that digital banking will play vital role for promotion of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Pakistan. He went on to saying that we have to take digital security measures after induction of digital banking.
He congratulated State Bank of Pakistan and Easypaisa on this occasion. He said we should work jointly for promotion of digital banking.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Easypaisa Jahanzeb Khan said that we already worked on cybercrime from last two years.
He said that fraudster using name of Easypaisa to rob the people and generate revenue from them through illegal channels.
He informed the gathering that Easypaisa never contact to consumers by themselves.
Easypaisa working with Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to adopt effective strategy against fraudsters.
