Defence Minister Khwaja Asif has refused to tender an apology over his remarks against the PTI women lawmakers, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.
“I will tender apology if PTI women apologise to Maryam Nawaz and Faryal Talpur.” the defence minister said during his address at the National Assembly.
He added: “The PTI women have been trained by their party chief and this person continued to use derogatory remarks about them.”
Kh Asif continued: “Leaders of Tehreek-e-Insaf have been talking about gender sensitivity. Aren't Maryam Nawaz and Faryal Talpur women?”
“If PTI women apologize regarding Maryam Nawaz and Faryal Talpur, I also apologize.”
He explained that he did not use those words deliberately. There were some matters of legislation and he reminded the house about the last regime that passed more than 50 bills in one go.
He said he had presented his view on this twice.
“If the context is seen, it was about bulldozing the legislation. I taunted that fifty-fifty bills passed in the last regime and said shame on those who did not do this."
The federal minister came under fire over his remarks against the PTI women during an address to the parliament the previous day.
