Former Pakistan Tehrek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA), Chaudhry Zafar Iqbal, found himself back in police custody immediately after his release from jail, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The arrest was made by the Sohawa police station, flouting the orders issued by both the High Court and the Sessions Court. Iqbal, who was arrested two days ago under 16 MPO (Maintenance of Public Order), has now become entangled in a legal battle in Jhelum.

Chaudhry Zafar Iqbal's arrest took place again following his initial detention in the district jail on the orders of the Deputy Commissioner. The Rawalpindi High Court bench issued a release order for the former MPA today, in response to a writ petition presented by Iqbal. Justice Anwar-ul-Haq Pannu ruled in favour of the writ petition, directing for Iqbal's release.

However, the police's decision to detain him once more despite the court's orders has raised concerns over the enforcement of judicial rulings. The actions of the Sohawa police station seemingly defy the authority of the judiciary and have sparked a legal tussle in Jhelum.

Chaudhry Zafar Iqbal's case has garnered significant attention, especially due to its intricate legal complexities. The former PTI MPA's initial arrest under 16 MPO had raised questions about the grounds and circumstances of his detention. With the subsequent court-ordered release and the subsequent re-arrest, the situation has become even more perplexing.

The district and sessions judge in Jhelum had previously issued orders to the police, explicitly directing them not to arrest Iqbal again. However, the events that unfolded have demonstrated a clear defiance of the court's directives, leaving the legal situation in a state of uncertainty.

As the case unfolds, legal experts and observers are keenly observing how the matter will be resolved. The integrity and independence of the judiciary remain crucial in ensuring the rule of law and upholding citizens' rights.
