The Punjab Health Department has announced a new rotation policy for postgraduate training, introducing significant changes that will affect the training schedules and locations for postgraduate trainee doctors, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

According to the new policy, Postgraduate trainees (PG trainees) from government hospitals are now required to complete their rotations within the same institute.

Additionally, PG trainees must conduct their rotations at the nearest government hospital.

The policy developed by the Department of Specialized Healthcare explicitly prohibits rotations in hospitals located in different cities.

The policy puts prohibition on private hospital postgraduate trainees from rotating in government hospitals. T

his restriction is part of a broader effort to maintain a clear distinction between private and public healthcare training environments and to ensure that government resources are utilized primarily for public hospital trainees.

The policy mandates the cancellation of any existing agreements between public hospitals and private institutions concerning the rotation of postgraduate trainees.

This move is expected to centralize and regulate the training process more effectively, preventing the overlap and potential misuse of training opportunities and resources.

The health department has also emphasized the strict implementation of the central policy for induction into postgraduate training.

The policy further states that any deviations or violations will result in disciplinary action.
