7,500MW shortfall triggers worst loadshedding in country

The shortfall of electricity in the country has reached 7,500 megawatts, with total power generation at 21,700 megawatts, and demand at 29,200 megawatts, necessitating prolonged power cuts across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

According to the power division sources, the electricity shortfall in the country has touched 7,500 megawatts.

The total generation of electricity in the country stands at 21,700 megawatts.

Whereas, the total demand of electricity in the country is 29,200 megawatts.

The electricity shortfall has caused prolonged power outages in the country.

It is learnt that power outages of up to 16 hours are being carried out in different parts of the country.

Unannounced loadshedding is being carried out in Islamabad too.

The duration of loadshedding is longer in areas with high losses.

Similarly, in Karachi, loadshedding of up to 14 hours is being carried out amid 450-500 electricity shortfall of K-Electric.

North Nazim Abad, Korangi, Landhi, Malir, Gulshan-e-Maymar, and Gulistan-e-Jauhar are the worst hit areas.
