Attempts to smuggle heroin, cigarettes foiled at Lahore Airport

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) personnel foiled an attempt to smuggle heroin at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The heroin was detected in a parcel during scanning at the airport’s cargo terminal.

The drug was hidden in different pockets of the parcel which was booked through TCS by a man named Usman Gulraiz in Peshawar for Sajid Rafiq, a resident of Britain.

The ANF officials seized the heroin and further action was under way.

The estimated cost of the drug is yet to be determined.

Cigarettes recovered

The authorities at Lahore airport foiled another bid to smuggle 258 bundles of cigarettes to Turkey. 

The bundles were recovered from a passenger, Rizwan Khan, who was travelling in a Turkish Airlines flight.

The authorities allowed the passengers to continue his travel but seized the bundles containing 5,160 packs of cigarettes.
