As many as 12.9m wheat flour bags have been distributed among deserving people across Punjab in a week under the Ramazan package, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
According to the Punjab government spokesperson, a record 1.8 m free flour bags were distributed to the poor on March 28 till 12 noon. More than 10 crore people of Punjab will benefit from the free flour scheme.
The spokesperson said that the implementation of the record Rs 53b Ramadan package among the beneficiaries by the Punjab government is going on fast.
In the second phase, the Punjab government will give two more bags of 10 kg flour to the citizens who buy one bag free of charge.
The entire government machinery is active for the fair distribution of free flour among the beneficiaries.
The spokesperson said that on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, all provincial ministers and secretaries are visiting the free flour points.
The distribution of free flour among the beneficiaries by the Punjab government will continue till 25th of Ramadan.
The spokesperson clarified that the woman who died in Jahanian did not die of a rush but of a heart attack.
“A 73-year-old woman died after reaching the hospital due to a heart attack.”
The Punjab government is an equal participant in the grief of the family members of the deceased.
