The ruling coalition, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), has decided to become a party in the petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the Supreme Court against the postponing of elections in Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
It has been learnt that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) will file a plea to become a party in the case today.
The three major political parties of the coalition government will present their stance in the court.
It is to be noted here that the PTI had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the election commission’s decision of rescheduling the elections in Punjab in October 2023.
While hearing the PTI’s plea, the apex court had sought an answer from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
