The high-profile honey trap and kidnapping for ransom case involving renowned playwright Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has entered its final stages, with the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) adjourning the hearing until April 3 for the recording of the accused’s final statements.

During the latest proceedings, 10 accused, including Amina Urooj and Hassan Shah, were presented in court after being brought from jail, while bail-bound accused Yasir also appeared for his attendance.

The investigation officer, Imran Yousuf, was cross-examined by the defense, marking the completion of witness statements.

According to the investigation officer, the accused, led by Amina Urooj and Hassan Shah, were found guilty of kidnapping Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar and demanding a Rs 10 million ransom.

Witnesses testified that Amina Urooj lured the playwright to her flat, where he was allegedly abducted by Hassan Shah and others.

With all witness testimonies and the plaintiff’s statement recorded, the court will now move towards concluding the case. Judge Arshad Javed of the Anti-Terrorism Court is presiding over the proceedings, while the Lahore High Court has ordered an early verdict in the case.
