In a major breakthrough, Pakistani exporters have received mega orders for facemasks from the United States, Canada and Europe. But exporters are still in limbo as there is still a ban on exports of the facemasks and hand sanitizers in the country.
Prime Minister’s Adviser on Commerce Abdul Razzak Dawood in a tweet revealed that Pakistani exporters have obtained large orders of facemasks from the United States, Canada and Europe.
“I have received information that some exporters have obtained large orders for facemasks from the US, Canada and Europe. This is a major breakthrough and I congratulate them for this achievement,” he tweeted.
He said I was part of the government to diversify into new segments and this has been achieved by the exporters through their own efforts. “I’m sharing this information with others to encourage them to seek more orders from different parts of the world.”
Some exporters reminded the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Commerce that there was still ban on exporting different kinds of facemasks in the country and hand sanitizers and asked him for lifting the ban to boost the exports.
However, some cautioned that it should not create shortage or price hike in Pakistan as coronavirus spread is increasing day by day in the country.
