Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Friday that the country was on its way to progress as the economy was picking up, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a function at Nowshera, Imran Khan said, “Insha’Allah, we have extremely good times ahead of us.”
Claiming that the country had come out of the coronavirus situation due to better strategy adopted by the government, he said if the lockdown similar to that of India had been imposed in Pakistan, as he was being asked to do, the country would have been in an extremely bad condition by now. “In India, strict lockdown did not have any impact on the coronavirus cases,” he said, and added apart from that poverty also increased in the country.
He stressed the need for increasing exports to ensure country’s development. “We will have to learn from the Chinese if we are to progress economically because the country focused more on its exports,” he asserted.
PM Imran said people were surprised as how on earth the country had achieved 4 percent growth rate all of a sudden.
He informed that Pakistanis living abroad had sent record remittances back home.
Regarding the Rashakai industrial zone in Nowshera, he said the project was an important component of Pak-China Economic Corridor. “Any country’s economic development was linked to its industrial growth,” he said, and added that Pakistan’s future was in industrialization.
He said he wanted more and more people to set up industries in Rashakai and other industrial zones, and that, too, export-oriented. “If we want to boost industrialization in the country, we will have to provide incentives to the investors,” he said, and regretted that sadly that had not been the case in Pakistan.
PM Imran said from now on it would be his government’s priority to attract investors. “Now we will call only that person VIP who generates job opportunities for people through investment,” he said.
The prime minister said the depreciation in the rupee’s value brought with it inflation.
He made it clear that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) did not need to rig the elections because it won the elections on the basis of its performance.
