Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Friday decided to withdraw one of its ministers over a constitutional issue of an extra appointment.
According to 24NewsHD TV Channel, constitutionally, the KP Chief Minister’s cabinet volume should not exceed the number of 16 ministers.
But, the current cabinet figure was exceeded from such number and KP Chief Minister had appointed an extra minister that was an unconstitutional appointment.
An opposition party in KP, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) member provincial assembly Ahmed Kundi highlighted the constitutional issue on Friday. He said the cabinet members could not exceed 11% of the total strength of the provincial assembly and the current cabinet was having ministers, one more than the constitutional allowance.
So now, the KP government had decided in principle to withdraw its one minister by starting considering the name of the person that could sacrifice his services as minister calmly and quietly.
It’s pertinent to mention here that according to the Constitution of Pakistan, the maximum number of cabinet members could be 11 percent of the total number of assembly members.
And as per the calculation, the number of members of the KP cabinet should not exceed 16 while at present there are 17 ministers in the CM’s team.
It is also worth mentioning that in addition to the 17 ministers, one adviser and nine special assistants are also part of the KP CM’s cabinet.
