Former Punjab home minister Col Hashim Dogar has announced leaving the PTI over the May 9 protests, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Saturday.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said: “After May 9 events it has become difficult for us friends to go along with [PTI] narrative. We are parting our wars.”
He clarified he and the others were not leaving politics
Along with him, PP-124’s Rai Taimoor Bhatti from Jhang, PP-36’s Chaudhry Muhammad Akhlaq from Sialkot, PP-69’s Mamoon Jaffar Tarar from Hafizabad and Sardar Mansab Ali Dogar from Pakpattan also left the PTI.
Col Hashim Dogar has called for exemplary punishment to be meted out to the culprits of the May 9 protests and vandalism.
“Whoever was involved, whether that was in inciting, motivating or physically attacking, they should be punished such that never again till the country remains anyone gets the chance to do any such action against any institution.”
He also blamed the events on PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz for their comments against the military.
