To stick with their high positions in government jobs, documents and retirement cases with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) have revealed discrepancies in the birth dates of a number of officers from the Pakistan Customs Service.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, officers of the Pakistan Customs Service are involved in the matter of altering their birth dates in retirement cases to remain in their positions.
Sources said that the FBR issued warnings to 49 customs officers involved after receiving complaints about the tricky game of altering the date of birth.
The FBR sent directives to all related collectorates and directorates and instructed the heads of all customs field formations to verify birth dates and other data as per the documents.
Officers promoted to grades 17 and 18 under the time scale were directed to record their birth dates according to their identity cards.
The FBR memorandum stated that ambiguities were found in the birth dates on retirement cases and identity cards received and the occurrence of such bad practices by grade 17 and grade 18 officers is a matter of concern.
The memorandum also instructed that the required data, along with the proforma from the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) be sent to the FBR for verification.
