Punjab Bar Council (PBC) has shown serious reservations and concerns regarding the conduct of the Secretary, Public Prosecution Department and demanded his immediate removal from the post.

In a statement, PBC vice chairman Kamran Bashir Mughal and Chairman Executive Committee Pir Imran Akram Bodla accused Secretary, Public Prosecution Department Usman Anwar of misusing his authority and resorting to actions to take revenge from Punjab prosecutors who moved the Lahore High Court against his unfair decisions.

They said the Secretary was ordering the illegal transfers of women prosecutors to far-flung areas by misusing his authority in clear violation of the directives issued by the LHC.

They said to seek revenge from the prosecutors, the Secretary is also introducing unfair, unconstitutional and illegal examinations for the promotion of the prosecutors who joined the department through the Public Service Commission and have been disseminating their duties for the last 28 to 30 years.

They said all these steps are being taken by Usman Anwar to seek revenge from the prosecutors for moving the LHC against him.

They also accused the secretary of using the police force for his gains in a number of his own property disputes that are in the courts.

They backed the pen-down strike call given by the Punjab prosecutors and vowed to extend their all-out support to them.

They demanded the government to remove the Secretary immediately and warned against taking action against and prosecutor.
