Businesspersons and traders of Lahore and Karachi have said they will mark Youm-e-Takbeer with national zeal but the markets and bazaars will open tomorrow (May 28), 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a public holiday on May 28 on account of Youm-e-Takbeer.
The business community of Lahore and Karachi announced marking the day with national fervour but opposed shutting the shops and the markets.
Lahore Anjuman-e-Tajraan Information Secretary Hafiz Sheikh Alauddin said all the markets will open as usual. Traders will mark the day with traditional zeal, he added.
Other traders’ reps including Ijaz Butt, Malik Zaman Naseeb, Waqar Ahmad, Rana Akhlaq Ahmed, Syed Azmat Ali Shah, Agha Zulfiqar and Sheikh Javed said their markets and shops will not be closed on Youm-e-Takbeer.
Similar statements came from the Karachi businesspersons.
Atiq Mir said that business in small and big shops and work in factories will continue. He added closures will add to their problems, he said.
