Youm-e-Takbeer: State bank, stock exchange, and courts to remain closed

The courts, central bank and the stock exchange will remain closed on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, on account of the public holiday following the announcement of the federal government.


Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited (PSX) said: “All TRE Certificate Holders, staff and concerned are hereby informed that Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited will remain closed on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 on the occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer, as announced by the Government of Pakistan.”


 


 


A statement issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) read: “The SBP will remain closed on May 28, 2024 being public holiday on the occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer as declared by the Government of Pakistan.”


The courts across the country too issued notification of the public holiday tomorrow.


The Supreme Court issued a circular stating it will remain shut on May 28 as notified by the cabinet division.


 


 


The Lahore High Court and subordinate courts across Punjab will observe holiday tomorrow (Tuesday) to commemorate Youm-e-Takbeer.


LHC Registrar issued a notification after the approval of Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan.


Lahore High Court and Subordinate Courts will remain closed on the occasion of Takbeer Day.


The federal government has announced a public holiday on Youm-e-Takbeer Day. Similarly, the Sindh High Court will remain closed.


 



 


PM Shehbaz Sharif announced that May 28, Youm-e-Takbeer, will be an official holiday, commemorating the day.


"On this day, the entire nation resolved to uphold the integrity of Pakistan, rejecting any compromise on national defence despite external pressures," he stated.



The Prime Minister called for political and defence forces to unite under the green crescent flag, reinforcing the country's defense. He highlighted that Youm-e-Takbeer is a day to renew the pledge to thwart the intentions of both external and internal enemies who seek to destabilize the nation through anarchy.



Sharif paid tribute to former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the Pakistan Army for their roles in strengthening the country's defense. He also honored the scientists who were pivotal in initiating and sustaining Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's nuclear program."We pledge that, just as we made the defense of this country impregnable on May 28, we will work tirelessly to ensure Pakistan's economic security," the Prime Minister declared. He urged the nation to unite against both external threats and internal chaos, committing to hard work and firm belief in the country's future.Prime Minister Sharif's declaration of Youm-e-Takbeer as an official holiday underscores the significance of this day in Pakistan's history, marking the nation's determination to safeguard its sovereignty and security.
