Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Sirajul Haq on Sunday accused the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government of deceiving 22 crore people of the country in the name of bringing ‘change’, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a public gathering in Islamabad, he said it was unfortunate that the youth had had no representation in any parliament since the creation of Pakistan 74 years back.
He expressed the hope that masses would show the present government the door in the next general elections due in 2023.
The JI ameer said that Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance Shaukat Tarin’s entire term was marked by ‘failures, failures and just failures’.
“There are three hallmarks of the present government: joblessness, inflation and lawlessness,” Siraj said, and added he would like to know which of its promises the government had fulfilled so far so that he could take his words back he had uttered in his speech.
He regretted that the prices of flour had increased by 80 per cent. “Not only that, even the prices of medicines have soared,” he said, and questioned, “Which item is cheaper in the country?”
He recalled that Prime Minister Imran Khan had vowed before coming to power that he would not borrow loans. “But contrary to that, he has borrowed record amount of loans,” he lamented.
The JI chief said the situation now had come to such a pass that masses and the government could not go together anymore. “I want to tell the government that its time is up. Now the people, and not the government, will reign supreme,” he stated emphatically.
