Outgoing Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa held farewell meetings with President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The meeting with President Alvi was held the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
During his meeting with PM Shehbaz Sharif, General Bajwa discussed issues of bilateral interest and professional matters.
Shehbaz Sharif lauded General Bajwa’s services for country’s defence and expressed best wishes for him.
The prime minister also hosted a luncheon in honour of the outgoing army chief.
General Bajwa is all set to retire tomorrow (November 29) after completing his six-year stint as army chief. Gen Bajwa was appointed as COAS on 29 November 2016 by the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
After the completion of his first term of three years as the chief of the army staff, General Bajwa’s tenure as army chief was extended for another three years, starting from November 2019 until November 2022, by the former prime minister Imran Khan.
General Bajwa will hand over the command of Pakistan Army to General Asim Munir at a ceremony tomorrow.
General Asim Munir was appointed as 11th Chief of Army Staff by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on November 24, 2022.
