Karachi's Mayor Barrister Mustafa Wahab has announced to conduct of fire safety audits for commercial buildings across the city, aiming to bolster safety measures and prevent potential disasters, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

He said three dedicated teams have been constituted to execute this plan effectively.

“The first phase will see audits conducted on Shahrah-e-Faisal, I.I. Chundrigar Road, and Tariq Road buildings, with subsequent phases covering other areas.

Mayor Mustafa Wahab said that the teams will evaluate the existing fire safety systems in these buildings.

According to the law, it is mandatory for large buildings to have robust fire safety systems and contingency plans for emergencies.

Buildings found non-compliant will face legal consequences, he added.
