Balochistan Assembly has passed a resolution seeking a ban on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) as a political party amid Opposition’s walkout, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During Balochistan Assembly session held on Thursday evening, PML-N and PPP members presented a joint resolution seeking ban on PTI as political party.
According to the text of the resolution, PTI propelled riots and unrest in the country on May 9 and after the recent attack on security forces in Islamabad during its final protest call on November 24, PTI proved that it become a political anarchist group in the history of the country.
The resolution stated that the anarchic agenda of PTI has affected the system of the country including the judiciary, media and the country's economy. It said that the statements of a constitutional chief minister of a province against the federation are tantamount to advancing an anti-state agenda.
The KP government's decision of attack on the federation with the help of provincial government’s machinery and resources shows its non-political agenda. Moreover, in order to protect its political allies, KP Assembly passed a resolution against the security forces, in which the forces were targeted contrary to the facts.
The resolution said that this House strongly condemned the anarchist Party's targeting security forces and the Federation and promotion of anarchy in the country and venom against its armed forces. The resolution also paid pay tribute to security forces for their sacrifices for the country.
The resolution said Pakistan Army has always met the expectations of the nation in difficult times and its heroes have always made the nation proud therefore this House has pledged to stand by its forces.
The resolution said that keeping in view all illegal and unconstitutional steps taken so far by PTI, this House of Balochistan Assembly strongly demands the Federal Government take immediate action on PTI which is aimed at creating chaos in the country and trying to creating a rift between and Security Forces and the people of the country. The resolution demanded that a ban on PTI would end the anxiety and suffering of the people across the country.
Addressing the assembly session, PML-N Member of Provincial Assembly and Minister for C&W Saleem Khosa told the House that many sacrifices have been made for democracy in the history of Pakistan.
He said, “The resolution against PTI was not being brought in the House with pleasure, only the actions taken by PTI forced us”.
Saleem Khosa said PTI played the role of Tehreek-e-Insaf as enemies of the country. This group has played the role of enemy of the state. He said that the acquisition of power should be done by popular force and not with the help of few groups. The foundation of the country owes to the security forces sacrifices.
Saleem Khosa told the provincial assembly that in the past many politicians were jailed for years, but they did not act like PTI. Saleem Khosa claimed if PTI failed to get public mandate, then it was not the fault of the institutions. He said therefore Allies of this provincial government demand the government to ban PTI.
Addressing the session, Opposition leader MPA Nawab Aslam Raisani said that, “he strongly opposes the resolution. He stressed, “We have to move on with negotiations. He demanded that Imran Khan should be given a level playing field”.
He said that the use of force was not a solution to any problem as PTI has got votes also, why does the assembly want to bring a resolution against PTI. Aslam Raisani said what results have we achieved by banning political parties in the past?
After the address of Opposition leader Aslam Raisani, JUI-led opposition members walked out of the House. After the walkout, PPP and PML-N members passed the resolution seeking ban on PTI.
