A new case under anti-terrorism laws has been filed against several senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including the party's founder, Imran Khan, his sister Aleema Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and others, following a protest in Islamabad.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the FIR was registered at Saddar Police Station in Rawalpindi under multiple sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and 14 provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), including charges of attempted murder and obstruction of official duties.
The FIR accuses PTI workers of blocking the Faizabad checkpoint at 7:30 am on the protest day, chanting provocative slogans, burning tires, and disrupting traffic.
The protesters reportedly attacked police officers with sticks and stones, tore Constable Junaid’s shirt, and snatched a government-issued wireless set from Constable Nosherwan.
The FIR further alleges that the PTI workers fired directly at the police, hitting an official vehicle with two bullets.
After tear gas shelling, the police arrested 77 PTI workers and seized Motorola sets, tear gas shells, sticks, marbles, and slingshots. Three vehicles used by the accused were also taken into custody.
The accused leaders are charged with criminal conspiracy under the directives of the PTI founder, gathering an illegal assembly, resisting law enforcement, and endangering public safety.
The FIR also accuses them of damaging public and private property and inciting fear among the public through anti-state slogans.
Separately, in Hafizabad, a case of abduction has been registered against PTI PP-39 ticket holder Qamar Gujar.
The FIR alleges that PTI leader Qamar Gujar and his son kidnapped citizen Syed Mubashir Hassan using a Fortuner vehicle.
Police have begun investigations following the registration of the case.
